SPAIN will introduce a collection of books prepared by the Ministry of Culture and the catalogues of individual publishing houses, all members of the Federation of Spanish Publishers. Spain's accompanying programme will address many aspects of the country's literature and book culture; leading writers and figures from the world of Spanish books will be in attendance.

Focus:

LOVE AND PASSION IN LITERATURE

a perennial theme in the arts, as reflected in books, films, theatre, literary broadcasts, exhibitions

LIFESTYLE AND THE BOOK

a special exhibition space for the presentation of books on design and architecture, with the focus on the book and reading as part of a contemporary lifestyle

EGYPT - 50 YEARS OF CZECH EGYPTOLOGY

an exhibition of the work of leading Czech Egyptologists to mark a jubilee year for the Institute of Egyptology of Charles University, Prague

LITERATURE IN SPANISH

cooperation in literature with Spanish-speaking countries; writers and literatures of Latin America, with the cooperation of embassies and the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic

The accompanying programme of the fair will include mini-festivals for film and theatre:

THE WORLD OF THE BOOK IN FILM / 7th year

screenings of films adapted from books - Ponrepo cinema, Atlas cinema, screen at exhibition grounds

THE WORLD OF THE BOOK ON THE STAGE / 5th year

plays based on literature, selected by theme; staged by companies from across the Czech Republic

From 22 to 24 April, the accompanying programme of this year's BookWorld Prague fair will be supplemented with the KAFKA AND BORGES conference, which is part of the programme of the biennale of the same name and addresses the work of these two writers of major international renown (in cooperation with the Franz Kafka Society, the Embassy of Argentina, the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic and the International Jorge Luis Borges Foundation).
